About the Author

Julius Sykes is a professional interpreter working for a large North American multinational
corporation. He lives and works on the East Coast of the continental United States, but previously
lived in Northern California while still a student. His educational background is primarily in the liberal
arts.

His interests include history, ecclesiology, and political science. In his spare time, he likes to read both
fiction and non-fiction; his favorite authors are Colleen McCullough, C. S. Forrester, Alexandre Dumas,
père, Tom Clancy, the Baroness Orczy, Oscar Wilde, and Takahashi Rumiko.

He has participated in on-line discussions since 1998, and has in that time used a wide variety of pen
names. His best known pen name, which has given risen to the site’s name as a whole, is “Publius.” He
has briefly used the stage name “Winston Smith.”

His methodology of analyzing fiction has been heavily influenced by the independent work of Dr.
Curtis Saxton and Messrs. Robert Brown, Mike Wong, and Brian Young. The majority of the articles
on this site resulted from extensive discussion and debate with Messrs. Derek Benz, Adam Gehrls,
Jay Shah, Matthew Trias, and John Vermazen. He owes a special debt to Casta, both beloved muse
and cherished friend.

Julius Sykes was mentioned by Dr. Saxton in the acknowledgments section of
Revenge of the Sith:
Incredible Cross-Sections
, for his “scholarly example.”
