Who’s Who

Kren Blista-Vanee
Kren Blista-Vanee (d. 39 rS) was a Privy Counsellor in the service of the Imperial State in the time of the late Civil War (35 - 39 rS), first seen in
Return of the Jedi when he accompanied the Galactic Emperor on board the second Death Star in 39 rS. He was a member of the Galactic Emperor’s
Inner Circle according to “Who are the gentlemen with the Emperor?” and “Motti the Barbarian?”, which defines the group as those “ministers and
governors who have earned the Emperor’s favor.” According to the
Shadows of the Empire Sourcebook, he styled himself “His Eminence, Kren
Blista-Vanee, Imperial Advisor To Our Most August Emperor.”

This latter source actually contains a respectable amount of detail about Blista-Vanee, including the fact that his residence has a vast reception hall
with 30-meter-tall transparisteel windows as walls, that he has a substantial art collection, that his residence was felt to have an “amazing view of the
glowing Coruscant skyline”; he was seen to have hosted a gala ball on the occasion of the seasonal opening-night performance of the Kallea Cycle in
Imperial City, Imperial Center, to which he invited a great deal of “Coruscant’s elite society,” including the Lady Comark, Grand Admiral Miltin
Takel, Exotic Entertainers’ Union representative Mayli Weng, and high-class spice dealer Wendell Wright-Sims (both the Lady Comark and Takel
were clients of the drug-dealer).

Of more substantial matters, Blista-Vanee spoke briefly with fellow Privy Counsellors Bregius Golthan and Alec Pradeux and with Moff Jerjerrod
after the latter had been named Director of Imperial Energy Systems, a subdepartment in the Imperial Ministry of Energy (in reality a front for the
construction of the second Death Star over the Sanctuary Moon of Endor); here the
Shadows of the Empire Sourcebook shows that Blista-Vanee is
not overly tactful, as he says to Jerjerrod’s face that “you are a competent overseer, but certainly not the sort to whom the Emperor entrusts vital
tasks.” Blista-Vanee was one of the Privy Counsellors that accompanied the Galactic Emperor to the second Death Star in 39 rS, but was not present
when the Galactic Emperor granted audience to
Sim Aloo, Janus Greejatus, and Darth Vader. He was killed when the Death Star was destroyed
during the Battle of Endor.

Galaxy Guide 5: Return of the Jedi describes Blista-Vanee’s clothing as “traditional planetary garb,” and mentions that he carried a hold-out blaster
on his person. He is said to be knowledgeable of alien species and bureaucratic procedure, as well as being an accomplished linguist. It should be
noted that the Privy Counsellor pictured and implied (but not outright stated) to be Blista-Vanee is in fact Sim Aloo.

Blista-Vanee is mentioned as having been appointed to a vacant seat on the Imperial Ruling Council in the non-canonical
Invention section’s “Surely
You Can’t Be Serious: The Life and Times of a Rounding Error.”
