Who’s Who

Sanya, Baroness Tagge
Sanya Tagge, Baroness Tagge (d. 15 rS) was a noblewoman who was prominent in early to mid-10s rS. She has been mentioned only once, in
“House of Tagge Sides with Loyalists,” in which she was specifically said to be “leader of the House of Tagge,” ruling her baronial family – the
House of Tagge, which controlled the enormous Tagge Company, was descended from “one of the original Founders,” according to “House of Tagge
Sides with Loyalists” – from Unloss Tagge, on the Core World throne world Tepasi. In 13:3, in the midst of the Separatist crisis, she “reaffirmed her
family’s loyalty to the Republic in an address to the people of Tepasi,” a move considered unusual for “so large a corporate body,” although she did
not offer any specific assistance to the Republic Government in terms of resources or services. At that time, she controlled a “private fleet of over
5,000 armed scout starships” and a “private army of over one million troops.”

Although it has not been stated, she is probably the mother of the five Tagge siblings, Orman (b. 2 BrS), Cassio, Silas, Ulric, and Domina; no father is
known. It is not clear if the Lady Tagge succeeded to the barony and headship of the House by cognatic primogeniture or by equal primogeniture
(Ulric reflected in “Dark Lord’s Gambit” that his younger sister Domina would succeed him in the event of his death or incapacity, but as she is
younger than he it is impossible to say whether preference is given to male dynasts over female ones). The Lady Tagge apparently died in 15 rS, as
that is the year that seventeen-year-old Orman succeeded to the barony and headship of the House – and with it,
the chairmanship of the vast Tagge
Company
economic empire.

Based on chronological necessity, it must have been the Lady Tagge, and not her successor, that initially got the Tagge Company involved with the
Galactic Corporate Policy League, which according to the
Han Solo and the Corporate Sector Sourcebook existed prior to Senator Palpatine’s
election as Supreme Chancellor (or President) of the Galactic Republic in 3 r
S, at which time Orman was merely 5 years old. As such, she must have
been a clandestine supporter of Palpatine’s policies and “New Order” reform program; for this reason she appears and is mentioned frequently in the
non-canonical
Invention section’s various stories, usually as being especially close to Palpatine. She appears in “The First Meeting,” in which she
introduces
Captain General (Retired) Indutiomarus Trachta to Palpatine, and is mentioned in “The President’s War Room” and “The Good Old
Days
” as having been unusually close to Palpatine.
