| Who’s Who Sim Aloo |
Sim Aloo (d. 39 rS) was a Privy Counsellor who first appeared in Return of the Jedi when he accompanied the
Galactic Emperor aboard the second Death Star in 39 rS and was present during the Galactic Emperor’s
conversation with Darth Vader when the former ordered Fleet Admiral Firmus Piett’s waiting Imperial battle
force to the far side of the Sanctuary Moon. He was subsequently named in the Death Star II Expansion Set,
where he was identified as the Galactic Emperor’s Force-sensitive “senior political advisor” and a member of the
“Imperial council [sic]” (i.e., the Imperial Ruling Council), while “Who are the gentlemen with the Emperor?”
identifies him by name as a member of the Galactic Emperor’s Inner Circle (“Motti the Barbarian?” also identifies
him as a member; the Inner Circle was defined by the scholars in the Star Wars Encyclopedia as “a group of
ministers and governors closest to the Emperor at the time of the Battle of Endor”).
Aloo’s first chronological appearance is in Labyrinth of Evil, in which he and Janus Greejatus appear as
“advisers” to Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, indicating that Aloo must have come into contact with him rather
earlier than 16 rS (by then he was already a highly placed member of the Supreme Chancellor’s “official family”).
The Dark Side Sourcebook shows him and Greejatus (without naming either) and identifies them as dark side
adepts, given basic instruction in the dark side of the Force by the Galactic Emperor at his private retreat world of
Byss; the generic dark side adept is said to possess a dark side talisman, and to have limited training in alchemy
and simple manifestations of the Force, like empathy and mentalic influence, or limited psychokinesis. The Visual
Dictionary says that his hat is “Coruscant headwear.” Aloo was habitually silent (he allegedly “never speaks”),
and like his master was known for his remarkable patience and wisdom; he was killed when the Death Star was
destroyed over the Sanctuary Moon in the Battle of Endor, shortly after he came on board.
